King of the Kop welcomes contributions from writers and Liverpool supporters with something interesting to say about the club. We publish match reports, analysis, opinion, player profiles and features exploring Liverpool FC, its history and its supporters.
We’re particularly interested in original ideas, informed perspectives and articles that offer readers something beyond the familiar headlines.
What we’re looking for
- Original articles about Liverpool FC that haven’t been published elsewhere.
- Well-researched match analysis, opinion, player profiles and features.
- Clear, engaging writing supported by accurate information.
- Articles that distinguish confirmed news from speculation and transfer rumours.
- Fresh perspectives on the club, its players, history and supporters.
Who can contribute?
We welcome experienced football writers, independent journalists and knowledgeable Liverpool supporters who have something worthwhile to share.
Previous publication experience isn’t essential. A strong idea, good research and a clear understanding of Liverpool FC matter more than an established writing portfolio.
Published contributors are expected to provide their real name, a photograph and a short author biography. You may also include a relevant personal website or professional affiliation in your biography.
We don’t accept articles submitted primarily to promote commercial products, businesses or backlinks.
How to pitch
Tell us what you’d like to write about, the angle you plan to take and why you think it would interest King of the Kop readers.
If you have examples of previous writing, you’re welcome to share them, but they aren’t essential.
Payment and author credit
King of the Kop is an independent Liverpool FC publication, and we aren’t currently able to pay freelance contributors.
We recognise the time and effort involved in producing good football journalism and believe in being transparent about this.
Accepted articles are published with the writer’s name and author biography, providing a published example that contributors can include in their writing portfolios.
If you have an original Liverpool FC story or an interesting perspective on the club, we’d be pleased to hear from you.
