With January 1st comes the opening of the transfer window. Yet again, Coutinho is linked with an exit to Barca (for £130m) despite being cup tied for CL. If he goes now, he would also lose any opportunity for a CL medal.
Assuming he does, Do you think LFC should look to replace him in January? If so, who do you think ‘could’ appease the fans? Can could be leaving and Goretzka looks to be replacing him (unsure if it will be a Summer deal – losing Can for nothing but gaining Goretzka for free too). Obviously Kieta is joining us too but not until Summer. Do you think Lemar (Monaco) could be a good replacement? Lanzini (WHU) is also a £40m rumoured replacement.
Personally I would be disappointed to lose Coutinho and think it will be incredibly difficult to find anyone who could replace him. Lemar is probably the closest – fast and often utilised on the Left but not the vision or creative quality of Coutinho (but then there are very few who do). Luan (Gremio) could be an option – another Brazilian with more of a work ethic, getting back effectively but also creative and a mean long shot too…
