Another ‘poor’ performance but another 3pts. LFC took their foot off and allowed Brighton to become much more competitive. LFC were certainly off-colour and created enough chances to have won comfortably even whilst playing poorly by their standards but at 1-0, Brighton had chances to get a point too.
At the end of the day, 3pts were the most important and yet another clean sheet but I bet Klopp won’t be happy with the performance. Maybe the lack of rotation after a ‘busy’ pre-season is taking its toll, maybe its the ‘pressure’ of the media expecting LFC to be the biggest challengers to the EPL, whatever the reason, there will be more difficult challenges ahead – no disrespect to Brighton but had LFC been at their best, this could have been a much bigger scoreline – even with the chances we created today. However, its these type of games where we dropped points in previous seasons so its an ‘improvement’ to see LFC grind out a result when not playing well.
