LIVERPOOL TEAM
Liverpool team to play Chelsea: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Mane, Firmino, Salah.
Subs: Mignolet, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Sturridge, Shaqiri, Origi.
For this ‘must win’ game (aren’t they all) and arguably our toughest fixture in the EPL left to play, Klopp has picked Matip to partner VVD in defence. Robertson also returns to LB so Milner and Lovren drop to the bench. Fabinho, Hendo and Keita are selected to start in Midfield and the front 3 are the 3 that have spearheaded Liverpool throughout this campaign so far.
Gini therefore starts on the bench too and Klopp has both Sturridge and Origi as options for firepower. Shaqiri, as he has been for the past couple of months rounds off the bench – wonder if he will actually get on the pitch as he ‘almost’ did – but the final whistle came before LFC had the chance to make a very late substitution. I never understand making a sub deep into injury time – nothing is as demoralising for the player….
