Milners goal (with a lot of help from the GK) separates the sides at half time. The youngsters have done quite well and its the ‘experienced’ players (apart from Milner) who have been quite average. Lovren and Gomez have been OK and perhaps difficult to criticise as they haven’t really been tested. Lallana, Ox and Keita though haven’t stepped up, grabbed the game and taken the opportunity to remind Klopp that they deserve to get more game-time.
Harvey Elliott has been quite lively and should of scored but has been one of the most influential players on the pitch. Brewster hasn’t had much opportunity to shine but a lot of that is due to the lack of quality from the experienced players – poor delivery, losing the ball etc which has meant Brewster hasn’t had much possession or chances.
Still 45mins to go and the bench is full of youth so it will be interesting to see if the experienced players can step up and play better or whether Klopp will give more opportunities to those on the bench…
