LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS
Starting XI: Adrian, N Williams, R Williams, Van Dijk, Tsimikas, Grujic, Jones, Elliott, Shaqiri, Minamino, Origi.
Subs: Kelleher, Fabinho, Keita, Jota, Wilson, Alexander-Arnold, Van den Berg.
Obviously a LOT of changes for Liverpool, 10 of them, as they face Lincoln in the Cup.
Rhys Williams is handed is debut alongside the only starter from the previous match, Van Dijk with Tsimikas and Neco Williams coming into the defence and Adrian starting in Goal.
Grujic, Jones and Elliott are given the opportunity to start in midfield with Minamino, Shaqiri and Origi in front.
New signing Jota may have a chance to make an immediate impact from the bench and Liverpool also have Fabinho, Keita and Alexander-Arnold to call upon if needed. Wilson, Van den Berg and GK Kelleher are also called up from the youth to offer options if needed.
Brewster isn’t in the squad with rumours linking him with a move away.
A chance to see the young players and those on the fringe of the 1st team starting line up and to let Klopp know what they can offer if given a chance. I think it makes sense to have VVD in defence to support Rhys on his debut rather than play alongside Sepp – maybe have a chance to swap later if the score is conducive to do so. Would be good to see Jota too…
