Starting XI: Alisson, N. Williams, Konate, Phillips, Tsimikas, Morton, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Minamino, Salah, Origi, Mane.
Subs: Kelleher, Davies, Fabinho, Keita, Gomez, Robertson, Matip, Dixon-Bonner, Alexander-Arnold, Norris, Woltman, Bradley.
With Liverpool through already as Champions, it was inevitable that Klopp would take the opportunity to rest players with such a busy schedule ahead.
Its a great chance for many too to get game time and for some, experience. The entire back 4 and midfield are changed with Origi coming in for Jota as the only change up front. Morton starts with Ox and Minamino in midfield and Phillips gets a rare start with Konate in the centre of defence. A good chance for Neco and Tsimikas to show how good they are…
There isn’t too much experience on the bench – but great to see Keita and Gomez named after returning from injury. Fab, Robbo, Matip and Trent are also the bench, mostly ‘defensive’ with several youth players also named.
Players like Jota, Hendo, Van Dyke, Thiago etc are left to rest/prepare for Villa on the weekend who have a whole week to prepare.
