LFC played really well vs Burnley, Dyche is team beat Chelsea, I think drew Arsenal etc.. YES, it’s finishing at the moment 😩⚽️

    • Not just finkshing – a really poor defence!

    • I know Burnley defended well but far too often, our great play that got into the final third was let down by poor finishing and poor final balls.
Against Sevilla for example, at one point we had well over 20 shots of which only 6 were on target. Compared to Sevilla’s 3 shots, 2 on target.
Against Burnley, we had 15+ shots in the first half alone and only 1 goal to show for it.
It was the same last year, we dominate, press, create chance after chance after chance. Its almost a case of playing by numbers – keep peppering in shots and eventually 1 or 2 might hit the target and with any luck go in too.
The defence may well be ‘criticised’ but concentration and frustration must be an issue. Seeing the players in front of you waste chance after chance after chance as well as not need to ‘defend’ that much due to the amount of possession we have, only to suddenly switch on and ‘defend’ that breakaway. Its not just the 4 defenders – although often its just 2 because our wing backs are looking to get forward and help the attack, something that also affects our defence because they are often caught out by being too far forward and its often them that makes the mistake by giving the ball away so most are in ‘attack’ formation, so the opposition has space to work.
There are ‘Goalkeepers’ that can have nothing to do ALL game and then lose that concentration at a ‘crucial moment so why should defenders be exempt too. Hendo isn’t quick enough to get back, can and Gini are often ahead of him so can’t get back quick enough. Its great when we have the ball in their half, defending and pressing from the front but if they can get the ball and break quickly, they have space and numbers to score – yet we blame Lovren or Klaven for being a bit slow, a bit panic-y knowing that they have to challenge but scared to in case the ball gets played round them and the pacy attacker has a 1 on 1 or give a foul/penalty in a dangerous situation – also know that the fans are already expecting them to screw up and not particularly supportive.
