With Lallana (30 and ineffective), Milner getting on, Can going, Coutinho gone and the Ox out injured at least until Nov, we have signed the Brazilian Fabhino (24) from Monaco. Still want to see Fekir to sign as we miss that creativity, that ability to score from midfield and great on set-pieces too. Hopefully Fabhino and Kieta will bring that ‘steel’ and ‘drive’ we have lacked…
Fabinho sounds a sold and versatile addition. Him and Hendo in our midfield willl make a good pairing. But if we are going to spend £40 + other areas are a much higher priority- goalkeeper and strike. Hope we see exciting additions in these areas too. Feel we need something different up front sometimes. Gareth Bale why not is what I say!
I think Hendo’s days are numbered – He won’t get in the starting line up with Fabinho and Kieta fit. Fab is a defensive mid – with a brain! Like Can – who kept Hendo out! Like I said above, we have an ageing midfield who may work hard, but don’t provide the skill or creativity to compete with the ‘best’. What we need is player like Fekir, Coutinho, De Bruyne, etc – someone who can beat players, create something from nothing, the set piece specialist etc.
Of course we could do with a GK and maybe a CB as well as a striker but we at least have ‘players’ in those positions that have the potential to improve – still at the right end of their careers. Its our midfield that needs fixing.
If you stop the opposition in the out field, the GK has little to do!
The 3rd may of been a mistake by Karius – but look at the space Bale had, no one near him from defence or Midfield. look at how Modric and Kross out-played our midfield. Yes we may have out-worked them in the first 20mis or so but their skill out-played us.
With Kieta and Fabinho adding an extra layer of protection as well as the more pro-active approach (unlike Hendo’s negative) we have a better chance. Fabinho is a Viera, a Kante, a Toure etc type player – something we have lacked (unless Can is fit)
