King of the Kop

  • Liverpool 1 West Ham 0!

  • Liverpool team: Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Can, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Mane, Firmino

Subs: Mignolet, Lovren, Gomez, Moreno, Henderson, Lallana, Solanke

    Liverpool v West […]

    • Predictable line-up. I had thought Hendo would start and Milner on the bench but the rest virtually pick themselves.
The bench is quite ‘defensive’ with only Lallana and Solanke as ‘attacking’ options. No Gini either. I thought Ings may have been on the bench but Solanke gets the nod.
It looks like Klopp wants to get ahead in the first hour or so and then shut up shop with the bench choices…

    • The Ox has surprised me, he is becoming almost an automatic starter, I didn’t see that when he signed, apart from the price tag of course. Robertson is another summer signing who is a cert to start these days. I like Milner but am surprised he gets the nod ahead of Hendo. This team should have far too much for West Ham, and let’s face it David Moyes never beats us!

  • Demolition job done!

  • Liverpool: Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Milner, Wijnaldum; Salah, Mane, Firmino.

Subs: Mignolet, Matip, Gomez, Moreno, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Ings.

  • Firmino and Salah score as Liverpool secure a comfortable away victory over struggling Saints

  • Southampton 0 Liverpool 2!

  • Southampton 0 Liverpool 1!

  • Liverpool Team: Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Can, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Mane, Firmino.

Subs: Mignolet, Lovren, Moreno, Milner, Lallana, Ings, Solanke.

  • Kane stoppage-time penalty salvages a point for Tottenham in Anfield thriller

  • Liverpool team: Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Can, Milner; Salah, Mane, Firmino.

Subs: Mignolet, Matip, Moreno, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Solanke, Ings.

    Liverpool v […]

    • I thought Matip would be rotated out as he has played a lot but thought Gomez would have started for a more ‘defensive’ option.
No surprises in every other area – inc Subs bench

  • Back to winning ways!

    • Arsenal lost 3-1 to Swansea too…
Spurs play Utd tomorrow but Chelski are at home to Bournemouth so we will go into the game against Spurs on Sunday in 4th at Anfield. If Spurs don’t beat Utd, we will still be 4th regardless of our result on Sun. Hopefully we get a win on Sunday of course so we go into the game at the saints with a good result -…[Read more]

  • ‪VAR chaos as disappointing Liverpool crash out of the FA Cup 2 – 3 to West Brom at Anfield‬

    • Gomez and Robertson need to come in a.s.a.p, Lovren to partner VvD also Karius in goal. Henderson back in midfield.

      • Can’t blame TAA or Moreno. The problem came from Midfield, not making the tackles, letting them run through and then not even picking up the runners. Our last 2 matches has shown up our Midfield more than anything else. Against Swansea, no creativity, no ability to go past people, draw defenders and pick a quality pass/shot which also nullified…[Read more]

    Liverpool v West […]

    • Quite a strong lineup. Another chance for Van Dijk to settle in and get used to his new teammates, which is no bad thing. I’m surprised to see Can starting as he has played quite a lot recently and thought he might be rested. Still think we are missing a midfield genius to unlock defences and get moves going. We had Coutinho, before that we had Alonso, but I don’t see any creativity in the middle of the park any more.

  • An F1 car stuck in London traffic – or possibly that dodgy Liberty Stadium pitch

    • ‪Looked like we missed Coutinho last night having no one capable of unpicking that stubborn Swansea defence ‬

      • Agree – it was far too slow in Midfield and no-one had the ability to beat players, draw defenders out of position, get free kicks in dangerous areas, shoot from range accurately or find the right pass to unleash our front 3 behind a stubborn defence. A fit Coutinho has that ability to turn up the pace, create and find space and lift the team as…[Read more]

    Swansea City v […]

    • Great to see Van Dijk starting a Premier League game for us, and apart from Karius, a very strong side!

    • Should be a good enough team to win – if we turn up and play! Would need to win by at least 3 goals to go back to 3rd and would need 7 to equal 2nd place GD – just in case it comes to that at the end of the season.
A win would give us a 5pt cushion to 5th and an 8pt cushion over the gunners.

      • 7 why not! We’ve done it this season already after all and the Swans should be whipping boys languishing at the bottom of the table!

        • Whipping boys they maybe but they have only conceded 9 more goals than we have. Their big problem is scoring (only 14 so far) which is why they are not getting points BUT statistically, they also have the 2nd best GK in the league (behind De Gea) who has saved more goals than statiscally Swansea should have conceded. If our finishing in’t clinical – which it hasn’t been at times, then it could be a frustrating night.
Should still win but I don’t know if it will be as ‘easy’ as the league positions appear…

    • Emre Can is captain tonight too. Hopefully that ends up convincing him his future is at Anfield!!

  • Liverpool put league leaders Manchester City to the sword in seven goal thriller at Anfield!

  • Liverpool Team: Karius; Gomez, Matip, Lovren, Robertson; Can, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Mane, Firmino.

Subs: Mignolet, Klavan, Alexander-Arnold, Milner, Lallana, Ings, Solanke.

    Liverpool FC v […]

    • Pity VVD has a ‘slight’ injury and misses todays match. Surprised Karius gets the nod as Migs has appeared to be the 1st choice for EPL. Otherwise, the line-up doesn’t surprise at all.
The bench is predictable based on the available squad – just hope our Midfield can release out front players without missing the creative talent of Coutinho. Midfield is where this game can be won or lost…
      Come on you REDS!!! YNWA

    • I simply don’t get the keeper rotation, it makes no sense whatsoever. Rotating two average goalkeepers does nothing for either’s confidence or form. Sturridge has disappeared off the radar? I hope VVD will not turn out to be similarly injury prone because his injury record over the last 6 – 7 months has not been great.

  • Liverpool Team: Karius, Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Can, Lallana, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Firmino, Mane.

Subs: Ward, Klavan, Lovren, Alexander-Arnold, Wijnaldum, Solanke, Ings.

    Liverpool v Everton […]

    • Interesting selection – VVD straight in which seemed ‘unlikely’ with Klopps comments – both Lovren and Klaven on the bench too.
Not much attacking threat on the bench – I know Solanke and Ings are Strikers but haven’t been prolific or played in the first team much in the last year. I would hope they come on when the game is comfortable rather than when chasing the match…
