King of the Kop wrote a new post, Liverpool Agree Deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 8 years, 3 months ago
Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Arsenal and England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The deal, rumoured to be in the region of £40 million, follows talks with Arsenal earlier today. The England […]

Well it is certainly an exciting end to the transfer window for LFC! Personally, I’ve not not been that impressed with The Ox during his time at Arsenal. He is a player who has not fulfilled his talents and potential. Perhaps Juergen Klopp is the man to take him to the next level? I really hope so. It will be interesting to see what role he has for him in our midfield. Is he going to be the winger he has been for Arsenal and England so far, or will he slot into central midfield?
-
I think it’s going to be fascinating to see how Klopp intends to use him. Central midfield is his preferred position, and it’s where he played at Southampton but Wenger has tended to use him as a winger. The guy as all the attributes to be a success but his career so far as flattered to deceive.
-
He’s only been signed as cover in case Can goes. Or just a general squad player. Can’t believe we have spent £40 million on him but welcome to LFC ox man!
-
Certainly hope we keep Can. He’s been great recently. He has the potential to be the perfect all round midfielder. I would be minded to give him the captaincy.

King of the Kop wrote a new post, Naby Keita Joins Liverpool In Club Record Deal 8 years, 3 months ago
Liverpool have agreed a club record transfer fee for Naby Keita, who will move to Anfield on 1 July 2018.
The summer-long pursuit finally came to a conclusion earlier today when the RB Leipzig midfielder […]

Great signing! Keita is a quality young midfielder, who has all facets to his game, but my excitement is tempered by the fact we need to wait 12 months before we see him in a red shirt! A season is a long time in football and anything can happen in the coming months. I do hope we can add some more quality to the squad for this coming season by the time the transfer window closes because I feel we are still short in defence.
-
100% agree, we need VVD a.s.a.p
-
-
In terms of choreography I guess the timing of Keita joining us does pave the way for Coutinho’s departure to Barcelona in 12 months time. Personally, I would place a central defender as more of a priority at the moment!
-
Again 100% agree Col’s. VVD is a “must” for Jürgen Klopp & LFC.

Simon Mignolet omitted as Loris Karius recalled
Liverpool Team: Karius, Gomez, Matip, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Firmino.Subs: Ward, Klavan, Alexander-Arnold, Grujic, Milner, S […]

Extraordinarily harsh on Mignolet in my opinion. He hasn’t done a lot wrong recently and what I saw of Karius in pre season wasn’t convincing. He will be facing a lot of pressure this afternoon. Let’s hope he doesn’t screw up!
-
Mignolet “rested” says Klopp, not very convincing! A goalkeeper needing a rest – never heard of the before!

Nothing unexpected here. Its the same line-up that started the first two games and includes the 5 players rested. Robertson must feel a bit disappointed after his performance on Saturday but Moreno hadn’t really ‘disappointed’ despite us conceding 4 goals in two matches he started. Unfortunately, the same 3 midfielders are starting. These 3 lacked…[Read more]

Five changes for tonight’s Champions League play-off second leg against Hoffenheim
Liverpool Team: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Firmino.Subs: K […]

-
It’s a strong starting lineup with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in attack and back to playing 4-3-3 again. Should be enough to get the job done!
-
Disappointed we have the same midfield that have been ‘absent’, lacking creativity and not picking up midfield runners when we don’t have the ball. Gini in particular has been poor
-
You’re right, Wijnaldum has been poor so far, need a big performance from him tonight! I was glad to see the rejuvenated Moreno but after Andy Robinson’s performance on Saturday I would have opted for Robertson tonight
-
-
-
Moreno ahead of Andy Robertson? Big call by Klopp.
-
In fairness, he has done well thus far. I know Robertson did OK against Palace but he was called in to allow Moreno a rest for tonight. This is the team that started the first 2 matches and, with Palace in between, Klopp was able to rest TAA and Moreno as both have run and run in those two games.
In truth, I am more concerned about our ‘midfield’ and in particular, Gini who has been very poor so far. Hendo looks like he is playing his way back to fitness and Can seems unsure of where he fits in this line-up – should he be the one to push or hold deep… In the end, we lack midfielder support in both attack and defence. Its as if they are making up the numbers – expecting the defence to cope without them and our ‘3 attackers’ to create and score everything – despite the fact that the opposition has 4 defenders and 3-4 midfielders that ‘work’ to support ‘defence/attack as required – something our Midfield really need to do.
Without Lallana and/or Coutinho, our midfielders don’t know how to ‘create’ space/chances/score. Without Lucas, we don’t have a ‘holding’ midfielder and Hendo, our captain, doesn’t seem comfortable with organising the team or ‘leading’ by example – like Gerrard would. With Lallana and/or Coutinho, one of them can grab the game by the scruff of its neck and get the team on the front foot.
Its like we have Salah, Mane, TTA and Moreno so the rest can be ‘flat-footed’ and more static…

Daniel Sturridge starts up front and Salah drops to the bench
Liverpool starting XI: Mignolet, Gomez, Matip, Klavan, Robertson, Henderson, Milner, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Sturridge.Subs: Karius, Lovren, […]

-
I trust Jürgen Klopp 100% even if line up is weaker!!. ⚽️?
-
1 eye almost certainly on the return of Hoffenheim. Resting TAA, Can, Lovren and Salah – maybe Moreno too. I think Gini has struggled so far and Hendo has been a bit short of match fitness and this looks like a team to rest a few but still keep some ‘quality’ to get the win.
-
A rare start for Daniel Sturridge – can he make the most of it? I agree this lineup very much looks ahead to securing the riches of the group stages of the Champions League
