5mins of Injury time – looks like LFC are more likely to score a third but lack of composure and the quality we have come to expect looks like the score will remain unchanged…

Salah is desperate for a goal – so much so that he takes a difficult shot instead of the pass to Sturridge…

10 shots on target now – after 2 in quick succession from Salah and Mane – but far too easy for the GK. Sturridge comes on for Kieta for the last 10mins…

Kieta appears to be playing in the ‘Firmino’ role at the moment…

Well as Firmino got a finger in the eye, the substitution hasn’t taken place – and comes on for Firmino instead…

20mins to go an Hendo comes on for Kieta…

LFC have had 10 shots, 8 on target compared to Spurs 4 shots. Really should have scored more but still not firing on all cylinders yet up front…

    GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Firmino (54mins)

Liverpool double their lead as Mane’s slide pass is cut out but the ball ends up with Firmino having a simple tap in from a foot out…

    GOAL!!!!!!!!!! Gini (40min)

Gini scores his first EPL away goal as goal line technology shows the ball crossed the line before Vorm pushed the ball out. The goal comes from a set piece corner and gives LFC the lead – 1-0

No surprises in the team selection. More interesting is the Subs bench where Fabinho could come on for his debut…

    FT 1-0 Salah (23mins)
Another ‘poor’ performance but another 3pts. LFC took their foot off and allowed Brighton to become much more competitive. LFC were certainly off-colour and created enough chances to have won comfortably even whilst playing poorly by their standards but at 1-0, Brighton had chances to get a point too.
At the end of the day,…[Read more]

Milner wins the ball with the high press, feeds Mane who passes to Firmino. His perfectly weighted pass is passed into the far corner by Salah without needing to take a touch. 1-0

LFC name the same starting line-up for the third game in a row. Even the bench remains the same as last weeks bench – that means Fabinho will again not be making his competitive debut. Not much else to say as its exactly the same line-up as last week…

As I said in my comments, LFC were very sloppy but we need to win games when we aren’t playing ‘well’ as a team and to win ‘ugly’. It was great to see another clean sheet and its not surprising that VVD and Gomez got a lot of praise in this game as they kept Palace to very few chances. Its games like this that we would end up drawing or losing…[Read more]

    2-0 Full time.
Not a ‘great’ performance but 3pts is most important. Klopp said they need to learn to win Ugly, and that was a sloppy performance but still got 3pts and also another ‘clean sheet’ too.
Next up, Brighton at Anfield on Saturday…

    GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!! Mane (90+3mins)

That definitely wraps up the 3pts and keeps us at the ‘top’ of the table – 2nd on GD.

Palace down to 10after Salah is brought down on the edge of the box as he stormed forward…
Unfortunately the free kick doesn’t lead directly to a goal.

Half time. A lot of possession but not really threatening or breaking down Palaces defence. In fact Palace had come closest to scoring but the crossbar came to the rescue.
A lot of the play has been sloppy, a miss control or sloppy pass (under/over hit, behind a player – even to the opposition) has seen a lot of build up play and good possession…[Read more]
