Come on you REDS!!!
A win should see us through – especially as Maribor got a draw against Spartak. A draw could still see Spartak with an outside chance – although would need a ‘big’ result against us to overturn the goal difference – a 4-0 win would see us knocked out in 3rd (assuming Sevilla beat Maribor to top the group). A loss could see us…[Read more]

Liverpool Team: Karius, Gomez, Klavan, Lovren, Moreno, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Coutinho, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Coutinho, Mane, Salah and Firmino all starting – Klopp is looking to wrap this up tonight by the looks of it! Gomez coming in is a good move. Still don’t understand keeper rotation but it hasn’t done much harm so can’t knock it
-
Basically the team that beat Southampton – with the expected GK change and Gomez coming back in. Bench looks the same too with both Migs and TTA replacing Karius and Gomez.
Lallana not on the bench but I do understand that Klopp would rather keep him safe and ease him back in. You wouldn’t want to bring him on with 3omins to go and need him at full match pace to get a result and then have a relapse after 10-15mins.

Jurgen Klopp made four changes to his Liverpool team with Dejan Lovren replacing the injured Joel Matip in central defence. Joe Gomez was a surprise omission but perhaps one eye was on the Champions League match […]

Caught the game on MOTD and was so impressed with Salah. I dread to think where we would be this season without him and his 14 goals. We are on a good run now and with Lallana coming back we are looking strong on the pitch and the bench. It’s just a pity we gave City such a head start with some amateur defending and questionable performances earlier in the season. I would give Klopp and the team 7 out of 10 so far this season.
-
Yes James I would agree with your assessment 100% with the caveat of until the Sadio Mane sending off we were well in the game be it 1-0 but well in the game. Spurs game was just recklessly ridiculous in the extreme defensively… since then we have our swagger back. Most important player for LFC is Roberto Firminio by some distance just because he presses in the absence of Lallana and make everything tick. Klopp has learned that finally we can’t go all out attacking just sit back and wait our time that’s been noticeable since the Spurs embarrassment.

A 3-0 win – takes back above Arsenal and leaves us in 5th – 3pts behind Chelsea in 2nd who we face next….
We would have to beat Chelsea by 3/4 goals though to overtake them on GD when we face them. Only 3pts separate 2nd from 7th nut Man City are running away with the league at the moment…

Gomez benched today, surprise or what?
-
More importantly, no Matip!!! Good to see Mane is fit and I did wonder if Lallana would have made the bench.
-

Great to be back after the international break! I just hope there is no hangover. because we were on a fine run of form in November. I am also surprised that Gomez isn’t in central defence today. I’m glad Manet was passed fit and think we have plenty of options in the team and on the bench to get the 3 points!

King of the Kop wrote a new post, Kenny: the film 8 years, 5 months ago

King Kenny was my boyhood hero. An unbelievable player, right up there with George Best as one of the greatest ever to grace our game. I’m amazed he hasn’t got a knighthood but I have a sneaky feeling he could well do in the New Year’s honours. Long overdue. I can’t wait to get this film on DVD on Monday!
-
Have pre ordered this film and can’t wait to see it. Saw Dalglish play several times, and met him briefly as a kid. He was a very special player the likes of whom you don’t see today. For skill and influence on a game only Luis Suarez comes close in a red shirt, or any shirt for that matter. I was gutted when FSG fired him in 2012 as felt he should have been given more time. A knighthood long overdue!

Huge game today at Anfield vs Saints… folk calling it the Virgil van Dyijk audition in front of Klopp. LFC haven’t beating Saints in four league outings. But LFC are very strong at Anfield in last 12 months or so. It’s 3 pm kickoff so nice traditional time for the Anfield kopites for a change. Matip is only injury concern in defence. We “mu…[Read more]

Just bloody typical, Klopp’s anxiety was rightly noted after West Ham win with Sadio Mane now he’s been flown back to Melwood early to assess an “old injury”. ?now on this one.
